The Ariel Consort

The Ariel Consort is a Portland chamber-folk and small jazz ensemble offering customized acoustic music groups, led by multi-instrumentalist and music director Jen Bernard. The music is beautiful, hip, eclectic and customized to your taste.  We specialize in weddings, but happily also play for cocktail hours, dinners, private parties and celebrations of all kinds.   

 
 
 
 

The Ariel Consort can expand its personnel to suit any musical vision, event size, stylistic preference or budget. Clients customize any soloist, duo, trio or quartet booking from among these instruments: flute+vocals, cello, violin, guitar, viola, harp, piano.  Our musicians are all professional orchestral players or professional freelancers. 

While we love chamber music, we also enjoy stretching out and enjoying traditional folk music, old-time waltzes,vintage jazz, French gypsy swing, oldies, classics and ‘60s-‘80s music. Our repertoire is pretty exhaustive, and we’re happy to commission a custom arrangement if you have a special request not in our repertoire.

For receptions, we can morph into an acoustic jazz group, offering up old swing, American Songbook, Latin, oldies and indie pops. This cool yet warm vibe is perfect for a cocktail hour and dinner.
